10 Unique Wedding Venues in Toronto – Photographer’s Perspective

Best Wedding Photographer Toronto

The number of wedding venues in Toronto and the surrounding area can seem overwhelming when you start your wedding planning. Over six years of experience as a wedding photographer, I have been lucky enough to attend weddings all over Toronto. Finally, I have decided to create a list of my favourite wedding venues. My list includes 10 unique wedding venues in the city.

While making my list, it was essential for me to include places with a lot of natural light, character, and an abundance of photography opportunities.

I love to work with couples who want to be present and relaxed on their wedding day. The venues I’ve selected provide a laid-back environment for you and your wedding guests. Your wedding day will fly by super fast. I’m here for you to capture a lot of unforgettable memories, but I also want to make sure that you enjoy your unique wedding day.

The Burroughes Building

Vibe: brick, rustic, urban city chic.

In my opinion, this is one of the most unique wedding venues in Toronto, with old beams and brick. I love this venue for its roughness and access to the rooftop patio with a downtown view. Great spots for photography sessions nearby allow great wedding images to be created with a modern, downtown vibe. Spacious, big windows allow enough natural light to get in.

Graydon Hall Manor

Vibe: historical, nature.

A beautiful mansion built in 1936, which has a really European vibe. Surrounded by gorgeous gardens, this is a unique place to get married in Toronto. I would say it’s a hidden gem! From a photography perspective, the best part about this place is that you can take all your photos onsite without travelling anywhere else.

The venue also offers a bright and beautiful suite for the getting-ready photos, which is a huge plus if you want to have a relaxed day.

The Broadview Hotel

Vibe: hip, vibrant, relaxed.

The Broadview Hotel in Toronto is one of the hottest and unique spots for a wedding in the city. With a lot of history behind it, this hotel is an excellent spot for a less traditional wedding celebration. The location allows a relaxed wedding without any travel on the wedding day. A beautiful rooftop with a downtown view is a photographer’s dream. Also, the surrounding areas are full of beautiful spots for a session on the wedding day.

Airship 37

Vibe: industrial, stylish, alternative.

A great venue tucked away in the trendy Distillery District with both indoor and outdoor spaces for wedding ceremonies. The venue has a warehouse feel to it.

Outside of the venue, you can find an old AirStream trailer which is an excellent background for photos. Proximity to the Distillery District offers even more photo opportunities. The venue has a great alternative ambience.

The Royal Conservatory of Music

Vibe: modern, open, classic.

The Royal Conservatory of Music is one of those venues in downtown Toronto that connects modern and classic architecture in a perfect way. It’s a place where you can feel the music in the air even when nothing is playing. A lot of light coming from the windows creates a space that is both welcoming and very open. What also excites me about this great wedding venue are the many levels, stairs and balconies, which create numerous vantage points for capturing both candid and unique perspectives on the celebration. If the venue itself was not enough, the proximity to the ROM, U of T and the Philosophers Walk provide more choices for photography locations. Running out of backgrounds, textures, or perspectives is simply impossible.

Artscape Gibraltar Point, Toronto Island

Vibe: laid back, nature, boho.

This unique venue on Toronto Island is a hidden gem for a wedding in Toronto. Just a 20-minute board ride will make you feel like you are having some kind of “destination wedding.” Access to the wide, sandy beach allows for beautiful, organic wedding images. Artscape Gibraltar Point is a great venue for anyone who wants to put their own spin on their wedding day and who loves ungroomed nature.

Archeo

Vibe: intimate. warm, rustic.

An intimate wedding venue in the heart of the Distillery District offers indoor and outdoor locations for a wedding ceremony. Archeo is already gorgeous on its own and doesn’t require a lot of decoration to make it even more beautiful. In addition, the Distillery district allows for some amazing wedding photos. If you are looking for a venue with a more intimate, warm vibe, this venue is for you.

Evergreen Brickworks

Vibe: industrial, nature.

Evergreen Brickworks is located in the center of Toronto’s Don Valley. It is surrounded by lush nature. The Don Valley brickworks is a former factory that produced bricks for over 100 years. The location is a combination of old factory buildings and beautiful greenery. This mix creates a great spot for a wedding in the city. If you are looking for a mix of nature and an industrial vibe, this is your place to get married. Evergreen Brickworks offers spaces for both outdoor and indoor wedding ceremonies.

District 28

Vibe: boutique, industrial, modern.

District 28 is a boutique event venue located in the heart of Toronto’s iconic Studio district. The venue offers two unique studios with high ceilings and a lot of natural light. Bright walls perfectly reflect the light and help to create natural-looking images. The surrounding industrial area creates an amazing opportunity for out-of-the-box wedding photos.

Berkley Field House

Vibe: rustic, eclectic, hipster.

Berkley Field House is a mix of indoor and outdoor. The space is bright and open with a lot of natural light, which helps create organic images. The venue has a beautiful tented area which is a fantastic spot for an outdoor ceremony or cocktails. I love the decor touches, which make the venue a little bit eclectic. Access to the bridal suite allows for a more relaxed day. The treehouse will make you feel like you are a kid again! Proximity to Queen Street East allows for some city vibe photos.

I know that planning a wedding might be an overwhelming experience. It is important to surround yourself with people and vendors who are happy to help you out and make your wedding planning a little easier.

That’s why it is always so important to me to make sure that my couples and I are on the same page. I’m here to answer any of your questions and make your wedding planning process a little bit smoother. Connection with my couples is one of the most important values to me! I want to make sure that I get to know couples who trust me with their wedding images, and also I want to work with couples who open up and believe in the process.
